About The Position

The Business Development Director is responsible for leading market expansion and revenue growth for BYLD across the Southeast region by promoting BYLD by Numbers™ technology — the integrated software- and hardware-enabled cold-formed steel framing solution that streamlines the complete design-to-build process. The role blends enterprise-level consultative selling with deep preconstruction engagement, requiring the ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, estimators, framing contractors, and construction teams early in the project lifecycle. The Director owns both short- and long-term growth strategy for the region, managing the full business development lifecycle: identifying opportunities, influencing design and preconstruction decisions, supporting early budgets and constructability reviews, and ensuring successful adoption of BYLD solutions from concept through execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, design-assist, engineering coordination, or technical sales within construction, engineering, or building materials.
  • Strong understanding of cold-formed steel framing, structural systems, constructability, and preconstruction workflows or the ability to rapidly develop this knowledge.
  • Proven success influencing design decisions and supporting preconstruction teams early in the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to win or support large-scale construction projects through technical consultation and design-assist collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, business, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • CRM proficiency for pipeline management and forecasting.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the Southeast region.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cold-formed steel, panelization, prefab, industrialized construction, or design-assist delivery.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards related to cold-formed steel framing.
  • Established relationships with developers, framing contractors, engineers, and general contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the Southeast region to achieve aggressive growth targets.
  • Expand adoption of BYLD by Numbers™ across architects, engineers, GCs, developers, subcontractors, and framing contractors.
  • Engage with and sell through third party framing companies.
  • Build, manage, and convert a targeted pipeline of opportunities across commercial and institutional sectors, with a focus on multi-unit project types (multifamily, hospitality, senior living, & student housing)
  • Lead deal strategy and closing activities—including complex, high-visibility technical projects dependent on early preconstruction alignment.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of cold-formed steel framing and BYLD by Numbers™ technology to influence design teams and preconstruction stakeholders early in the project cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with internal technical sales, engineering, and preconstruction resources to analyze drawings, evaluate constructability, develop optimized framing solutions, and support early budgeting.
  • Partner with internal engineering and construction teams to support projects from conceptual design through contract award and field implementation.
  • Build strong relationships with architects, structural engineers, general contractors, preconstruction leaders, estimators, framing contractors, and developers to drive early project engagement and influence.
  • Support framing contractors through preconstruction collaboration, design-assist efforts, early pricing, project configuration, constructability review, and technical guidance.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities within key market segments and geographic submarkets across the Southeast.
  • Lead development of proposals, bids, budgets, pricing strategies, and technical responses in collaboration with internal technical, engineering, and estimating teams.
  • Maintain pipeline visibility through CRM and accurately forecast revenue.
  • Monitor market and competitive activity to strengthen BYLD’s positioning during design and preconstruction stages.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding and continuous support for framing contractors, GCs, and design teams.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction, long-term retention, and recurring revenue.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination to proactively resolve issues that could affect pricing, design, or field execution.
