About The Position

The Business Development & Sustainability Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to supporting the Vice President, Business Development in developing business relationships, monitoring client’s needs in support of future growth opportunities, and leading sustainability activities for the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a business development role.
  • Proficient with computer systems and MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Technical writing and editing: Ability to write proposal sections.
  • Experience with ERP system – Vista Viewpoint Preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent time management abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal correspondence.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in accordance with urgency.
  • Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance standards per employee handbook.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP system – Vista Viewpoint Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Vice President of Business Development to grow, develop, and sustain Saiia Construction Company’s client base and sales in the areas of Civil Industrial, Power Generation, Mining, and Pulp and Paper services.
  • Support the Vice President of Business Development to help meet client requests related to sustainability activities.
  • Support the Vice President, Business Development in the coordination and execution of the proposal development and submission process.
  • Networks with new and existing client teams, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, beneficial reuse firms, and recyclers to build relationships and secure business opportunities.
  • Identifies opportunities and provides updates to Saiia team on future bid projects with clients.
  • Prepare training sessions to educate and engage appropriate Saiia Construction team members and leadership on sustainability initiatives.
  • Visit project sites to evaluate scope of work when bid opportunities become available.
  • Identify and research competitors.
  • Understand strengths and weaknesses of competitors.
  • Develop clear understanding of client decision drivers.
  • Supports the process of developing bid packages based on scope of work, defined win strategies, integrated sustainability and diversity targets of the client.
  • Supports the bid package process, working closely with project management and estimating.
  • Maintain an organized electronic filing system of documents, presentations, history on projects and photos.
  • Enter bid opportunities into Salesforce software and update the status of proposals if requested.
  • May be exposed to moderate noise levels in the office.
