About The Position

Independent Artist Group (IAG) was born upon the merger of Agency for the Performing Arts (APA) and Artist Group International (IAG) in the summer of 2023. IAG combines the breadth of APA’s renowned full-service representation capabilities as a talent and literary agency in the entertainment industry, with AGI’s reputation as the premiere independent music touring agency with a roster of superstar stadium and arena acts as well as cutting-edged emerging artists in the music and comedy worlds. The result is a powerful new voice in artist representation with the entrepreneurial passion to create ground-breaking partnerships for our clients across multiple platforms and business lines, combined with the deal making acumen and deep relationships that come from their combined 95-year legacies in the representation business. IAG seeks a highly motivated junior level attorney to join our Business and Legal Affairs department in our Los Angeles Office. This position will support our Business and Legal Affairs team. The successful candidate will be able to review and negotiate agreements for concerts/music touring, live comedy, physical production, film, scripted and unscripted television, endorsements, and branding.

Requirements

  • Impeccable interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor communication based on the needs of various stakeholders (e.g. agents, managers, studio/network business affairs, producers, other attorneys)
  • Strong organizational skills: impeccable ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail: resourceful, proactive, reliable, trustworthy, assertive, and excellent at drafting
  • An analytic, solution-oriented approach with impeccable follow-through
  • Ability to maintain discretion and a high level of confidentiality
  • JD from an accredited law school required
  • Admission to the State Bar of California

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate a variety of agreements, including but not limited to those for marketing, branding, music, and both above and below-the-line deals
  • Serve as strategic advisor and business partner to agents and executives, providing decision-making support and guidance related to deals and contract negotiations
  • Apply innovative problem-solving skills and practical business judgment to balance IAG’s business needs and acceptable levels of risk
  • Foster positive, long-term internal and external client relationships with agents, managers, and artists
  • Other duties as assigned
