About The Position

Technology continues to evolve. We need a leader that can tackle the challenge of this fast-paced innovation. What changes do we make and why? How do we ensure a smooth technology transition? How do we guarantee we have a winning and competitive technology portfolio? These are some of the exciting challenges that technology planning tackles. Technology planning activities include solving complex business and technical issues to deliver a great end-user experience. This position will require working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and agencies including internal and external partners. It will require knowledge of the technology market, supplier offerings, costs, and availability to craft future global winning long-term technology planning strategy and innovation. They will have accountability for future 3-5 year time horizon for technology: driving innovation, end user experiences, and availability for HP’s future portfolio. This role will report to the Director of Business Notebook Technology Strategy Planning.

Requirements

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • 10+ years of work experience, preferably in product planning, product management, or a related field.
  • Strong team player with advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with ability to multi-task.
  • Crafting strong product and business strategies using market and customer research.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Thought leadership regarding key technologies and industries relating to laptop market preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead for future 3-5 year technology planning horizon.
  • Provides future strategy for technologies; coordinating, managing, and monitoring for opportunity.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities and suppliers for technology innovation and incubates technology to drive readiness for future portfolio inclusion.
  • Communicates status and appropriately drives deliverables with internal and external development partners.
  • Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations including long-term technology advocacy.
  • Contributes to development and definition of customer segmentation strategies, tailoring technology experiences to different customer segments.
  • Applies advanced subject matter knowledge, leads, and contributes to complex projects, and exercises independent judgment in resolving business issues and establishing policies.
