Intern Business Systems Location: Novi, Michigan Category : Corporate Development Role Summary This part-time internship focuses on identifying inefficiencies across business processes, optimizing formats for automation, and developing lightweight tools that improve accuracy, speed, and scalability. The intern will support the Corporate Development / Business Systems team in documenting workflows, standardizing templates, and experimenting with automation and AI tools to streamline operations.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information systems, data analytics, or related field.
  • Strong attention to detail with an eye for identifying inconsistencies or inefficiencies.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, templates, and structured data.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and communicate with cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in process improvement, digital transformation, or business systems

Nice To Haves

  • Basic familiarity with automation tools (Excel macros, Power Automate, AI assistants, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing reporting, templates, and system inputs to identify inconsistencies or process gaps.
  • Standardize and reformat documents, spreadsheets, and forms to improve compatibility with automation tools.
  • Analyze workflows to identify repetitive tasks that could be automated or simplified.
  • Create simple efficiency tools such as macros, standardized templates, and automation-ready formats.
  • Document business processes clearly and concisely for use in automation or process redesign initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and validate revised formats or tools.
  • Support experimentation with automation technologies, including AI-assisted data cleaning or extraction.
