Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a CNC machining and/or assembly environment, ideally in automotive manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership experience as a Supervisor or Lead Operator in a production or technical environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform tool touch-offs and minor program edits.
  • Working knowledge of laser welding, hobbing, and PLC-based systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, FIFO, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to train and develop others while leading a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and fosters a supportive, can-do culture that motivates team performance and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities across the machining line to meet output, quality, and safety goals.
  • Coordinate daily activities on the machining line to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency targets are achieved.
  • Assign and rotate operators based on production needs and skill sets, ensuring adherence to First-In-First-Out (FIFO) flow and standardized work.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and support continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
  • Understand and manage process flow and bottlenecks to maintain smooth operations.
  • Perform tool touch-offs and assist with tool changes as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor equipment and process issues, including CNC and PLC-based machinery.
  • Support and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Monitor and support laser welding and hobbing operations with a working knowledge of both.
  • Use basic PLC troubleshooting skills to identify machine issues before escalation.
  • Assist with basic program edits in CNC equipment to support quality and process adjustments.
  • Lead and facilitate problem-solving activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new and existing team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance to work instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including downtime tracking, production records, and training logs.
  • Utilize computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, documentation, and presentations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and proactive decision-making within the team.
  • Act as a communication link between production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment using 5S principles.
