Title: Buyer II Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data) Location: Louisville, CO (Onsite) Position Purpose: The Aerospace Buyer II is responsible for negotiating purchases of goods and services with suppliers, while taking part in sourcing projects and day-to-day sourcing needs. The role works closely with Program Managers on sourcing efforts, RFP and RFQ activities, and supplier negotiations. It also calls for strong ERP system skills, experience in a fast-paced production setting, and cross-functional teamwork to support on-time receipt, cost control, and quality compliance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of applicable experience
  • Bachelors degree in business, Economics or related preferably
  • At least two years of inventory management and ERP software experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering design software for aerospace structures and mechanisms.
  • Customer and internal interfaces.
  • Meetings, reports and professional presentations will be required using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exposure and knowledge of aerospace materials (metallics, composites, adhesives, bonding) that are typical for precision structures and space missions.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or other aerospace quality standards
  • Strong analytical, data mining and report development skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels
  • Ability to be a team player with a professional attitude
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Detailed knowledge of MRP/ERP/PLM software systems
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.62.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred CAD experience is SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate with engineers for the purchasing activities in procuring materials, parts, components, and services for aerospace mechanisms.
  • Actively maintains a healthy supplier portfolio, seeks out new supplier relationships and takes part in supplier surveys and audits when needed.
  • Completes source selection and vendor qualification due diligence prior to issuance of RFPs.
  • Monitors existing relationships, proactively participate in problem resolution and schedules site visits with key suppliers as appropriate.
  • Negotiate contracts with wholesalers and suppliers ensuring contracts with vendors are consistent with company objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance for total cost, on-time shipment, and quality.
  • Review purchase history to support forecasting and to set up blanket orders and bulk buys.
  • Be familiar with aerospace designs, drawing, specifications and purchasing AS9100 practices
  • Purchase parts to print and specifications that meet all quality requirements, and partner with suppliers to close out quality issues.
  • Perform cost analysis and recommend changes as results dictate.
  • Placed orders to maintain inventory supply are steady for assigned product lines.
  • Manage communication lines with Managers, Engineering, Quality, Production, Planning, and Accounting to meet business needs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new sources of supply aerospace materials.
  • Verifies deliverables from suppliers, purchase orders and approves invoice for payment.
  • Follow FAR/DFAR requirements, confirm compliance, and inform management and compliance teams of actions needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Fixed Price and Basic Cost and T&M contract structures.
  • Percentage of time spent travelling 10%.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
