About The Position

Iteris is seeking an experienced and highly organized Buyer/Planner I to join our team. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing raw materials, components, and services to meet the production and customer requirements. This role evaluates and analyzes supplier quotes, negotiates prices, maintains relationships with suppliers, and ensures orders are delivered on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • Two to three years of purchasing/planning experience in electronic and/or electro-mechanical manufacturing
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of ERP systems and reporting
  • Must be able to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Fast learner, motivated, with initiative
  • Organizational, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Mathematics and analytic skills
  • Prioritization and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills
  • Technology literate

Nice To Haves

  • Oracle ERP experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process requisitions, request quotes, purchase order placement, schedule, reschedule, and cancellation activities
  • Establish and promote relationships with different departments (Program Management, production, stockroom, shipping, accounting, etcetera)
  • Establish and promote relationships with key suppliers to support organizational needs including calls, meetings, quarterly business reviews and supplier scorecards
  • Monitor and clear Receiving and Material Review Board discrepancies
  • Achieve cost savings based on standard pricing. Identify and suggest alternatives
  • Sources vendors for best prices, availability, best values, and supply chain continuity
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for all purchases
  • Actively ensure overall product and supplier quality
  • Compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • ERP (Oracle) loading demand requirements, work orders, and transfer orders
  • Determine capacity, production and shipping schedules
  • Plans and procures supplies, raw materials, components, sub-assemblies and equipment necessary
  • Plan sequence of assembly, installation, configuration, test and other manufacturing operations for mix of products
  • Assist in the creation of routers
  • Report preparation and submission
  • Maintain positive flow of communication
  • Work with different departments (stockroom, production, shipping, quality, accounting, etcetera)
  • Coordinate with sales support, shipping/receiving, and production to meet requirements
  • Participate in LEAN training, activities, and projects to promote continuous process improvements
  • Any other duties deemed necessary
