About The Position

Buyer/Planner II - Supply Chain Position Summary: Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, core hours 8am-5pm 100% on-site (Madison, WI) Catalent, Inc. is a leading global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO). Located in Madison, WI, this facility features advanced mammalian cell line engineering and biomanufacturing capabilities using single-use systems to support scalable production. This 263,000 sq. ft. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility offers integrated formulation and analytical services to address complex development challenges in Biologics. The Buyer/Planner is a key individual contributor to the success of Catalent Madison. The Planner/Buyer supports the execution of the Master Production Plan for the entire site to achieve 100% on-time delivery of scheduled batches. You will lead all tasks associated with the planning and purchasing of raw materials, scheduling of customer orders, including projects, equipment availability, promise dates, and working with procurement and materials management when the need arises for expediting any material necessary to start the order.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred) in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience required in supply chain, inventory management, procurement, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external clients, and suppliers.
  • Proficient in inventory/ERP (JD Edwards) and materials management systems.
  • Individual must be able to see, hear, read, and write clear English.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, talking, writing, listening.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Must comply with EHS responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a cGMP-regulated environment preferred.
  • ASCM or ISM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Procures materials from approved suppliers, monitors receipts, and resolves material shortages to support on-time production.
  • Maintains accurate purchasing and planning master data, including item setups, lead times, and restocking levels.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports purchasing and inventory performance metrics such as supplier performance, aging inventory, and overdue orders.
  • Develops and maintains the production schedule by analyzing customer requirements, material availability, equipment capacity, and optimal sequencing.
  • Creates, updates, and monitors manufacturing work orders, parts lists, and inventory system changes, ensuring alignment with schedule needs.
  • Communicates schedule updates, material risks, and special requirements across cross-functional teams through daily/weekly planning meetings.
  • Supports new product introductions, BOM updates, and quality system requirements related to planning and purchasing processes.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external suppliers to improve processes and maintains reports for departmental and site-level performance tracking.
