About The Position

The Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the procurement of materials, components, and supplies necessary to support production operations in a manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring that materials are available to meet production schedules. The Buyer/Planner will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure efficient inventory management and minimize production delays. Government material purchases and associated documentation shall be executed in compliance to FAR/DFAR regulations.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain planning, or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Material Procurement:
  • Procure materials, components, and supplies in accordance with production requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Responsible for and adherence to sourcing department operating procedures including compliance to government regulations (FAR/DFARS). Support Sourcing audit requirements as needed.
  • Planning and Scheduling:
  • Create and manage production plans and schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust as necessary to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Work closely with the production team to align material availability with production needs.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Conduct regular reviews of inventory to identify slow-moving or obsolete materials.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive process improvements in procurement and planning processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams focused on lean manufacturing, inventory reduction, and process optimization.
