About The Position

RITA Corporation is a well-established manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals serving the personal care industry. Our Corporate headquarters is located in Crystal Lake, IL. We are seeking a strategic Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring specialty chemical raw materials from domestic and international suppliers. This role manages approximately $3M–$10M in annual spend and plays a key role in cost control, supply continuity, and supplier performance. The ideal candidate understands commodity-based purchasing and can anticipate market fluctuations, supply risk, and pricing trends within the chemical industry.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of procurement experience in chemical manufacturing or other regulated raw material industries (personal care, specialty ingredients, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing)
  • Direct experience purchasing regulated or hazardous materials
  • Experience negotiating supply agreements in commodity-driven markets
  • Familiarity with SDS documentation, hazmat classifications, and domestic/international shipping requirements
  • Experience forecasting demand and managing inventory in a manufacturing environment
  • International sourcing experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, or related field preferred
  • Additional experience in strategic sourcing and commodity market analysis may be considered for higher-level placement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for specialty chemical raw materials
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure cost, quality, and reliability
  • Forecast demand and align purchasing plans with sales and production requirements
  • Monitor chemical commodity markets and global supply conditions to proactively manage cost and risk
  • Coordinate with logistics, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure timely and compliant deliveries
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost savings and process improvements
  • Support cross-functional planning with operations, sales, and regulatory teams
