Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, we are in search of a Cable Prep Operator, for our Faribault, MN facility. This position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. Trystar’s Cable Prep Operator position is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider.  Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, Cable Prep Operator plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. This position is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider. The Cable Prep Operator prepares cable assemblies and wire kits in a safe and efficient manner necessary to manufacture high‑quality products within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read instructions, safely operate machines, and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Accuracy and timeliness in completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • High understanding of shop safety procedures and PPE usage.
  • Able to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Be able to perform basic functions on a computer.
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
  • Weld small and large components such as mild steel tubing, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with wire cutting, stripping, labeling, or cable assembly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills with accurate data entry experience for receiving, issuing, or tracking production.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOPs, tally sheets, and material usage including scrap.
  • Experience working in a high‑mix, high‑volume manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Physical strength is sufficient to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Frequent lifting, standing, bending & reaching required
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Cut, strip, and prepare cable and wire to specified lengths per work orders, BOMs, and process instructions.
  • Operate manual and semi‑automated wire processing equipment including cut/strip machines, printers, spooling equipment, and related tools.
  • Create wire kits and cable sub‑assemblies for internal customers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and on time delivery.
  • Label, mark, and identify cable and wire per customer, quality, and engineering requirements.
  • Perform visual and basic dimensional inspections to verify length, strip quality, markings, and workmanship.
  • Accurately record production counts, material usage, and scrap.
  • Stage completed cable prep work for assembly or next operations in accordance with standard work, FIFO, and material flow requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with 5S standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, job safety analyses (JSAs), and company policies.
  • Communicate quality issues, equipment concerns, material shortages, or schedule impacts to the Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Cross‑train and assist in other cable or fabrication operations as business needs require.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
