About The Position

The Cable Specialist is responsible for monitoring, organizing, and relocating cable materials throughout the plant, yard, and staging areas. This role ensures that cable inventory is accurately documented, properly tagged, and efficiently stored. Working closely with the Wire & Cable Supervisor and the Cable Coordinator, the Cable Specialist supports daily operational needs and helps maintain an organized, safe, and production-ready environment.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) is a plus.
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or cable management preferred
  • Previous forklift experience with the ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing approximately 50–75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Wire & Cable Supervisor and Cable Coordinator to support inventory management organization, and overall cable-handling operations.
  • Organize, inventory, and maintain accurate records of all cable materials.
  • Properly tag cable spools in accordance with company standards and instructions from the Wire & Cable Supervisor.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to unload, move, stage, and store cable spools.
  • Ensure production has the required cable spools staged in the designated staging area at least 96 hours in advance to support continuous workflow and prevent delays.
  • Assist team members with identifying and resolving cable-related issues; contribute to troubleshooting efforts as needed.
  • Unload, inspect, and document incoming cable deliveries to verify accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including warehouse and staging zones.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support cable operations and facility efficiency.
