How the Role fits in: CAD Designer This position serves as the primary CAD designer for all process piping modifications and new installations, taking projects from P&ID to final documentation. The Piping Designer ensures that all layouts, isometrics, and material specifications meet safety standards (ASME) while supporting project teams through accurate documentation control and vendor coordination. Small Projects This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all low priority regular and special maintenance including capital projects within their assigned areas of responsibility. This function is designed to improve the efficiency of the plant maintenance and construction through the pre-determination of manpower, material, time, tools, and equipment required to perform these requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in drafting and design or industry related technology
  • 3–7+ years of relevant experience in industrial or petrochemical settings, specializing in creating 3D models and 2D layouts using software like AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, or PDMS.
  • Must have a deep understanding of piping components, ASME/API codes, and the ability to manage documentation lifecycles—from P&ID development to as-built drawings—ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficient document retrieval.
  • Knowledge of engineering document control practices and standards
  • Superb organizational skills
  • Ability to navigate and use CMMS software such as SAP
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM standard 1910 and the included Management of Change standard
  • Familiarity with industrial and engineering drawing standards
  • Familiarity with terms and jargon used in the petrochemical industry.
  • Ability to read and follow P&IDs
  • Previous experience in conversion of hard copy-based document control to electronic based
  • Ability to edit drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and abide by all INEOS safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and promote the INEOS “20 Principles of Safety”, assuring that personnel are aware of safe working practices and promote the safety concepts of “Coaching for Safety” and “Stop Work”.
  • Promote safety and safe actions through communication such as discussing safety with employees/contractors before job task, during meetings, and as opportunities arise to promote safety to the fullest extent possible.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements and strive to meet internal SHE objectives.
  • Ensure completion of own and direct subordinate training requirements as outlined in the annual training schedule.
  • Adhere to and support the INEOS 20 Principles and INEOS Life Saving Rules. All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and the Culture of Prevention.
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D piping layouts (AutoCAD) based on Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Generate isometrics, bill of materials (BOM), and material take-offs.
  • Ensure designs comply with ASME B31.3 (process piping) and company safety standards, including proper piping routing, material specification, and accessibility for maintenance
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic process files; includes P&IDs, PFDs and Mass Balances.
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic equipment files; includes vendor supplied manuals, records of modifications and alterations, specification sheets and equipment design basis.
  • Interface with equipment suppliers and engineering firms to obtain process documentation and equipment data as required.
  • Assign drawing numbers, pipeline numbers, equipment location numbers and property record numbers for new installations.
  • Checkout drawings and documents to personnel and outside engineering firms for use in the course of project design and implementation.
  • Edit and update redline drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Review submitted Management of Change closure packages for complete and proper documentation.
  • Maintain closed project files for future reference.
  • Maintain archive files for equipment that is taken out of service or removed from plant-site.
  • Ensure only the latest approved documents are available, preventing the use of obsolete data.
  • Transition existing hard copy equipment and project files to electronic format and maintain in a secure database for site wide access.
  • Periodically field verify equipment information and installations as needed for documentation accuracy.
  • Periodically provide admin services for the Technical Department.
  • Participation in the training and development plans of the Department.
