About The Position

The Cage Shift Manager assists with supervising and directing the Cage Department on the assigned shift. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs the duties of a Cage Shift Supervisor and Cage Cashier. 2. Enforces departmental and corporate procedures. 3. Provides direct supervision to Cage Shift Supervisors and Cage Cashiers during assigned shifts. 4. Assures Cage Staff provides quality guest service to the guests of Seneca Casinos. 5. Trains, schedules and evaluates personnel, in keeping with Seneca Resorts & Casinos objectives. 6. Maintains appropriate staffing levels for all shifts within the Cage Department. 7. Develops, implements, monitors and edits working schedules, time and attendance reports for Cage team members, as needed. 8. Directly supervises the operation and conduct of the Casino Cage and assumes full supervisory role in the absence of the department manager. 9. Assumes the responsibility for the controlling and accounting activity within the casino cage for each shift and for adherence to regulations and policies regarding cage in the absence of the Cage Manager. Assists with department staff meetings, to include facilitation of these meetings on a regular basis or as needed/required. 10. Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of Cage Department Standard Operating Procedures. 11. Maintains accountability for assigned keys and key inventories. 12. Maintains the confidentiality of all gaming records. 13. Participates in continuous improvement teams as assigned and contributes input, information and solutions to help improve the department and organization. 14. Maintains a current understanding of all policies and guidelines regarding information security, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understands and complies with all information security policies and procedures at all times. 15. Provides exceptional guest service to all guests and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with peers, supervisors, managers, and all other team members. 16. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies. 17. Completes all required SGC Training programs within specified guidelines from commencement of employment. 18. Attends all necessary meetings. 19. Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed; other duties may be assigned. Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years of successful supervisory experience managing large sums of money and/or two (2) years of successful cage shift supervisor experience (or any combination thereof) required.
  • One (1) year of experience in all Cage Banks, or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to make decisions and direct others; make decisions and interact with guests in a pleasant and friendly manner, speak in public and communicate ideas and concepts.
  • Effective math skills are required; applicants may be required to pass an SGC-administered math skills test.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment, including a 10-key adding machine, personal computer, telephone, and multi-function photocopier.
  • Two (2) years previous customer service experience required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, team members and guests.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and team members.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to withstand working in a casino environment, which may include exposure to loud noises, bright and flashing lights, and cigarette/cigar smoke.
  • Continuously bend/stoop, squat, balance, kneel, lift and push/pull.
  • Continuously carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Occasionally climb heights and reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasionally push carts weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with guests, management, team members, and members of the business community in all situations.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Management is preferred.
