PRIMARY FUNCTION The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and verification of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and customer requirements. This role ensures that all instruments used in production and quality processes maintain accuracy and reliability, supporting the organization’s commitment to aerospace quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in metrology, electronics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in calibration or metrology within an AS9100 or ISO-certified manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 requirements and ISO 17025 calibration principles.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and electronic test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS13100, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards. Must have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or ISO 17025 preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform verification of measurement and test equipment in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration activities, including certificates, traceability documentation, and equipment history.
  • Identify and segregate out-of-tolerance equipment; initiate corrective actions and document findings.
  • Schedule and track calibration intervals to ensure timely completion and compliance.
  • Utilize GAGEpak (calibration software) and maintain the calibration database for equipment status and history.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing calibration documentation and demonstrating compliance.
  • Assist in developing and improving calibration procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and care of precision instruments.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to resolve measurement-related issues.
  • Analyzing data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system (Continuous Improvement).
  • The ability to closely follow International Quality Standards as well as customer requirements.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Problem-solving: Use problem-solving skills to identify potential issues with a product and propose solutions to fix them.  Use problem-solving skills to identify the source of a defect, determine the best way to repair it, and verify that the repair was successful. Use problem-solving skills to identify the root cause of a production delay and propose a solution to prevent it from happening again.
  • Communication and Teamwork Ability: Communication is another important skill to have as it is needed to convey findings to colleagues and management. Ability to effectively communicate with and work in teams.  Need to be able to explain their findings to their management in a way that is easy to understand.
