About The Position

This position is for lifeguards at the Northeast YMCA’s Calypso Cove waterpark. The purpose of this position is to serve as a positive role model for members and to create a character-developing atmosphere. The lifeguard supervises daily pool activities for groups and families. They are also responsible for proactive communication and maintaining a safe pool atmosphere in order to prevent accidents. This is a part-time position with hours available Sunday-Saturday. Various shifts available from May - Beginning of September 2026. Lifeguards will be working outside in all different types of weather conditions. Sunscreen and water are provided. All lifeguards are put on rotation throughout the waterpark as well as our indoor pools throughout the day.

Requirements

Minimum age of 16
Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment.
First Aid/CPR/Oxygen Certification or ability to obtain certification before first day of employment.
Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions
Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values.
Work a minimum of 12+ hours a week.
People centered; service oriented.
Ability to communicate with supervisor, members, and other staff in an efficient manor

Nice To Haves

Previous lifeguard and/or swim instructor experience preferred

Build relationships with multi age groups, especially children

Perform general cleaning tasks of pool areas
Perform periodic pool chemical testing (includes training)
