About The Position

North Homes is seeking dependable, energetic, and flexible Camp Assistants to support daily camp operations and help ensure a safe, organized, and engaging experience for all campers.

Requirements

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain flexible in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move supplies as needed
  • Passion for working with youth and creating a positive, structured environment
  • Ability to engage effectively with youth and support a variety of needs and activities
  • Experience in youth development, behavioral support, outdoor programming, or recreation is preferred
  • Previous experience in a camp, childcare, or similar setting is preferred
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and respond appropriately in urgent or crisis situations
  • Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, and a non-judgmental approach to individuals of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and socioeconomic statuses
  • Must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid Minnesota Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily food pick-up and transport for camp meals
  • Refill, sanitize, and maintain water jugs and ice for campers and staff
  • Serve as a runner for supplies, materials, and program needs throughout the day
  • Assist with general camp setup and preparation of activity spaces
  • Assist with group activities across camp programs as needed
  • Provide additional support for younger campers (e.g., ropes course, shop activities)
  • Support both morning and afternoon programming needs
  • Help prepare materials and equipment for upcoming activities
  • Assist with waterfront supervision when attendance is high
  • Step in as a secondary lifeguard when needed (if certified)
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are safely stored and secured
  • Inspecting and resetting fishing equipment (removing hooks, untangling lines)
  • Securing shop tools and charging/storing batteries safely
  • Locking up restricted or hazardous items prior to group arrival
  • Clean and maintain shared spaces, including the lodge
  • Gather and dispose of garbage throughout the day
  • Support meal distribution and cleanup for camp groups
  • Complete assigned opening and closing duties
  • Assist during high-volume periods when multiple groups are onsite
  • Help with light equipment repairs and general upkeep
  • Support end-of-day organization and preparation for the following day
