About The Position

Join us as at Camp Easterseals located in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of New Castle, Virginia as Facility Maintenance Manager! This position is responsible for all maintenance related tasks including, but not limited to pre and post camp clean-up, supervising and caring for supplies and equipment, and maintaining and repairing all building and grounds. The Facility Maintenance Manager reports to the Camp Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Skills necessary to oversee the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds or equipment
  • Ability to positively interact with others
  • Interest in understanding of people with disabilities and camp activities
  • Maturity, stability and sound judgment in camp emergency and program situations
  • Valid, unrestricted Driver’s License and safe driving record
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks and operate camp vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others to provide information regarding maintenance concerns to maintain a safe camp environment
  • Ability to identify and respond to environmental and man-made hazards on camp grounds
  • Must possess the necessary abilities to perform tasks such as develop written communication as well as reviewing work to determine accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, and being able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform many physical tasks including lifting at least 50lbs, driving a lawn mower, using a chainsaw, etc.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs all buildings, grounds, vehicles, tools and equipment
  • Assists the administrative staff with camp clean-up, set-up and other tasks to prepare for the summer
  • Supervises care of supplies and equipment
  • Performs daily trash and debris removal
  • Cares for horses and assists with riding program
  • Ensures that Camp is free of hazards to the best of their ability
  • Checks and maintains trails frequently clearing overhanging limbs and trees
  • Frequently checks for and removes bees and wasps nests
  • Submits budget requests to the Camp Director for tools, materials, supplies, etc.
  • Assists in seeing the camp through any and all emergency situations including acting as emergency driver for camp vehicles as needed
  • Assists in special Camp/ESUCP events as needed
  • Prepares camp grounds and buildings for rental groups
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with the public and surrounding community
  • All other duties as assigned/needed
  • Oversees maintenance staff and operations
  • Supervise the maintenance staff to ensure that work is completes in a timely and satisfactory manner
