POSITION SUMMARY
The Camp Store Specialist is responsible for overseeing and facilitating all aspects of the Camp Store. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: selling camp store items to all campers, groups, cabins, and staff that visit the camp store, accept and refund store account money on opening and closing days of camp, tracking stock and inventory and communicating when store items are low on inventory, maintaining a neat and clean environment in the store, cleaning and logging all camp lost and found, maintaining a clean and neat environment in the camp laundry room area and securing lost and found items for campers and families as requested.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent
• Previous experiences in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
• Organizational skills to plan, schedule, and facilitate programs
• Ability to give supervision and guidance to staff
• Ability to plan, lead and/or assist in teaching an activity
• Ability to teach leadership skills
• Ability to teach and role model the Core Values of the YMCA and use of 21st century life skills
• Cardio Pulmonary Recitation (CPR) for rescue required
• First Aid certification required
• Blood borne pathogens training required upon hire
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)

Responsibilities

• Make transactions for camp store items with campers, cabins, groups, and staff
• Keep record of campers/staff store account balance with camp system
• Make accurate refunds on closing days of camp
• Find and return lost and found items to campers/families as requested
• Keep lost and found cleaned and logged as needed
• Facilitate every aspect of running, inventory, and maintenance of the camp store program.
• Supervise staff helping in the camp store at all times.
• Make sure camp store is stocked and prepped daily.
• Keep a clean and neat environment in store.
• Organize and clean Lost and Found daily.
• Maintain a clean and neat appearance within the camp laundry room.
• Assume the role and duties of a counselor as determined by the Summer Camp Director.
• Parent communication (face to face) and written communication.
• Knowledge of camp store software and procedures.
• Ensure the camp store follows all guidelines and procedures as laid out by the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
• Log and record all items in lost and found.
• Assist in general cleaning of camp facilities daily as needed
• Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids
