About The Position

This position is a key member of the Campus Safety support staff, serving as the primary coordinator for Parking Services. The role functions as the first point of contact for the Campus Safety Office, providing customer service, administrative support, and operational coordination. This position assists with Dispatch Communications, Social Media Content Creation, and Event Planning, including but not limited to parking reservations, traffic control, and scheduling. This is a full-time position on an approved alternative workweek schedule (AWS) of four 10-hour shifts per week, as permitted under California law, with regular hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three to five years of general office, administrative, dispatch, or customer service experience.
  • Strong and exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safety-related programs, including APU and DCS safety and security policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong initiative, flexibility, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

  • Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computers, phones, radios, and office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in parking services, campus safety, event coordination, or a related operational environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all day-to-day operations of the web-based parking permit and enforcement system (IPARQ).
  • Serve as receptionist and first point of contact for the Campus Safety Office.
  • Issue faculty, staff, and student parking permits to individuals registered in IPARQ.
  • Issue special parking permits, including temporary permits, guest passes, special event permits, and parking exemption passes.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Vehicle Code, both internally and online.
  • Process billing for outstanding citations.
  • Establish and coordinate the Parking Appeals Committee annually.
  • Review parking appeals and compile appeals to be sent to the Parking Committee for review throughout the academic year.
  • Serve as a dispatcher for Campus Safety operations as assigned.
  • Receive, prioritize, and route calls for service, parking concerns, safety issues, and general inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of calls, incidents, and service requests.
  • Monitor radios, phones, and other communication systems to support Campus Safety operations.
  • Assist in coordinating safety and security planning for special events, including commencement, athletics, move-in weekend, construction projects, and other campus programs.
  • Serve as a DCS representative on university committees related to event planning and campus coordination.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Administrative Manager, Special Services Supervisors, Campus Safety Supervisor, Assistant Director, and Executive Director.
  • Maintain handheld devices, printers, and related equipment leased through IPARQ.
  • Assist with training Campus Safety personnel and student workers on proper use and care of parking enforcement and related equipment.
  • Accept, review, and issue bicycle registration forms and permits; mail completed registrations as required.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to establish positive working relationships and provide quality customer service.
  • Interface with university departments to address parking, dispatch, safety, and special event needs.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance as required by departmental needs.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary under the guidance of the leadership team.
