About The Position

In 2026, The Holdsworth Center will launch its newest program, the School Leadership Blueprint, a multi-year investment in school districts redesign school leadership roles by changing structures and buildings skills. By harnessing the expertise and leadership of teachers, rethinking the role of assistant principals and empowering principals to share leadership, districts can create a sustainable system where teachers receive the support and development they need, instruction gets stronger and student outcomes improve. Reporting to a Director on the School Leadership Blueprint team, the Campus Support Specialist role is critical to the success of campuses that implement a new school leadership architecture. Each Campus Support Specialist is responsible for outcomes at a portfolio of schools that are changing their school leadership structures. Campus Support Specialists are assigned to campuses as they prepare to change their leadership structures each spring. Throughout the first implementation year, Campus Support Specialists are on the ground directly working with principals, bridge leaders, and team/teacher leaders to develop and hone the leadership skills, systems and routines, and ways of work needed to succeed in the new model and drive results. Specialists may continue to monitor and support campuses in year two of implementation, as needed. In partnership with District Support Specialists, Campus Support Specialists will ensure that each school they are assigned to reaches its goals as part of the School Leadership Blueprint. The Campus Support Specialist supports the growth of campus leaders, teacher satisfaction and efficacy and, ultimately, student results at each of their campuses.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a principal, assistant principal, or instructional leader with a strong record of improving teaching quality and student outcomes:
  • Experience leading and developing teacher leaders, instructional coaches, or campus leadership teams.
  • Strong track record of helping schools navigate adaptive challenges, shift mindsets, and embed sustainable change
  • Deep understanding of effective instruction, formative assessment, and data-driven improvement cycles
  • Facilitating and communicating clearly, confidently, and respectfully in all settings — one-on-one, small groups, and large groups; Listens actively and adapts tone and message to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
  • Guiding and supporting with rigor and empathy, balancing accountability for results with care for people.
  • Modeling effective questioning, feedback, and reflection strategies that promote growth and ownership.
  • Establishing credibility and trust-based relationships with district and campus leaders that mobilize results
  • Superb time management and organization skills; ability to plan and manage multiple workstreams towards goals and timelines.
  • Strong achievement-orientation and personal responsibility for results; Uses goals and outcomes to monitor progress and guide work.
  • Strong ability to collect, interpret and use qualitative and quantitative data to diagnose needs, adjust coaching priorities, and track progress
  • Track record of thriving in a design environment that values feedback as a gift, reflection, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, partner effectively with others, andbuild relationships with school leaders. Demonstrated ability to see individual work as part of a bigger effort.

  • Prior success implementing or supporting school leadership models or distributed leadership systems that expand instructional capacity and improve results is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develops a deep understanding of district (and campus) vision for instruction and expectations for instructional systems, routines, and practices.
  • Regularly visits campuses, monitoring implementation and supporting leaders and teams:
  • Observes School Leaders, Bridge Leaders, and Team Leaders in action and monitors the effectiveness of implementation of instructional systems, routines, and practices.
  • Collects and reviews qualitative and quantitative data about implementation and outcomes. Uses data to determine if campuses are on track to achieve goals and adjust supports accordingly.
  • Maintains clarity on priorities and helps schools stay focused on goals despite complexity.
  • In partnership with the School Leader, uses data and observations to diagnose root cause of implementation challenges and identify appropriate interventions and supports.
  • Builds the skill of the School Leader to set and reinforce vision and expectations and build capacity of leadership team.
  • As appropriate, with the support of the School Leader, provides additional capacity-building for Bridge Leaders and Team Leaders to build new knowledge and skills.
  • Adapts approach to providing support to ensure that campuses meet benchmarks and goals. Exercises sound judgment rooted in both evidence and contextual understanding.
  • Attends and supports delivery of the learning content for campuses, as needed, in the Holdsworth campus program.
  • Anticipates barriers and opportunities that may require system-level (district) changes and works collaboratively to design preventative and responsive strategies.
  • Uses “early warning signs” in implementation and acts proactively to support course corrections.
  • Surfaces data to the rest of the implementation team (Director and District Support Specialists) that informs perspective on district-wide trends.
