About The Position

The Capacity Command Center Lead: provides advanced clinical and operational coordination within the Transfer Center. This role serves as an on-shift clinical resource to support safe, efficient patient transfers and standardized throughput processes across the system including behavioral health transfer center, central bed placement and staffing, and internal and external customers. The position does not include direct supervisory, hiring, disciplinary, or performance management responsibilities. The Capacity Command Center Lead facilitates established escalation pathways, supports real-time prioritization using defined criteria, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to promote operational reliability and consistency in transfer workflows. By using data, clinical judgement, and strong communication/interpersonal skills, this role helps resolve throughput challenges, support strategic capacity planning, and drives improvements in process that impact patient placement and length of stay.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required
  • 4 Experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting (ED or Critical Care) required and
  • 2 years Transfer Center Nurse, Patient Flow Coordinator, Charge Nurse roles, or Administrative Supervisor roles required
  • RN upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the on-shift clinical resource for complex, high-acuity, or time-sensitive transfer cases.
  • Supports prioritization of patient transfers in accordance with established clinical guidelines and system policies.
  • Facilitates escalation processes by defined protocols.
  • Promotes adherence to standardized transfer and documentation workflows.
  • Spot delays in care, discharge obstacles, and workflow breakdowns.
  • Remove or escalate barriers to maintain smooth patient flow.
  • Address deviations from expected care pathways.
  • Leads bed huddles, flow meetings, or command center discussions.
  • Use throughput, demand, and capacity data to guide decisions.
  • Use clinical judgment to triage alerts or patient needs.
  • Assist with surge planning and resource allocation.
  • Support strategies to prevent over capacity situations.
  • Communicates with providers, entity leaders, system executives as needed
  • Attend required number of staff meetings
  • Completes required chart audits/documentation
  • Completes peer feedback
  • Timely completes Employee Health requirements, MyTalent lessons, maintains licensure requirements
  • Meets Customer Service/Promise Behaviors
  • Provides peer guidance and clarification regarding transfer processes and escalation pathways.
  • Reinforces high-reliability principles including clear communication and situational awareness.
