Job Title Card Manufacturing Quality Engineer About your role: As a Card Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will execute and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) at our Nashville card manufacturing site. You will partner closely with operations, engineering, and quality leadership to strengthen process controls, resolve complex quality issues, and support audits. Your work helps ensure every payment card we produce is secure, compliant, and manufactured with consistent, measurable quality. What you'll do: Apply statistical methods to manufacturing process control, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), control charts, process capability (Cp/Cpk), hypothesis testing, and normal distribution analysis. Support implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a robust Quality Management System (QMS) aligned to ISO 9001 and applicable regulatory and customer requirements. Lead investigations and resolve complex quality issues through cross-functional collaboration using structured problem-solving methods such as 8 Disciplines (8D), 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and similar root cause analysis tools. Analyze quality data, returned product/Return Material Authorization (RMA) trends, customer defect complaints, and supplier metrics; prepare clear reports with recommendations and prioritized, risk-based actions. Coordinate and perform internal process and product audits, and support external audits by driving auditor readiness, data preparation, and on-floor execution. Develop, apply, revise, and maintain quality standards and inspection criteria for processing materials into partially finished and finished payment card products, including associated DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans. Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), including containment, root cause analysis, and definition and verification of permanent corrective actions, using risk-based prioritization. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial production, or supplier/contract manufacturing quality environment supporting production processes or products.
  • Experience applying statistics to manufacturing process control, including SPC, control charts, and process capability (Cp/Cpk), using tools such as Minitab or similar statistical software.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, structured problem-solving (such as 8D), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR), and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R).
  • Experience performing root cause analysis across raw material, sub-assembly, and finished product levels for mechanical and/or electrical components and assemblies.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
  • Experience communicating technical quality concepts and influencing cross-functional teams to drive closure on quality issues and actions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) or a similar industry-recognized quality certification, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification or a comparable lean Six Sigma qualification with demonstrated project execution in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programming and operation, and advanced metrology techniques for precision measurement.
  • Experience in card or similar manufacturing processes such as stamping, die punching, lithographic printing, lamination, and functional testing.
