About The Position

Position Summary: Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2‐ dimensional, 3‐dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms, as requested by a physician and in accordance with standard practices. Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Requires a two‐year allied health degree and successful completion of an approved one‐year program in Ultrasound Technology and at least two years' experience in the field.
  • Requires registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent organization within 6 months of hire.
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field.
  • Ability to use independent judgement to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and the patient's needs.
  • Able to follow established departmental procedures.
  • Able to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Performance of quality echo, stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients.
  • Assists in scheduling and coordinating tests, records, test results and prepares and maintains operational logs, statistics and billing.
  • Performs high‐level disinfection for TEE probe in accordance to established guidelines.
  • Perform routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and report any equipment malfunctions to echo lab manager.
  • Purview patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for review and interpretation by Cardiologist, including comparison of previous studies.
  • Instruct students, fellows, nurses, or health personnel as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients, employees, and corporation‐related activities.
  • Communicates technical and patient care related information to established processes and timelines.
  • Employees may be directed to perform job‐related tasks other than those specifically represented in this description.
  • Mandatory attendance of monthly meetings and echo conferences.
