About The Position

Career Advisor I (CA) plays a pivotal role in helping job seekers achieve meaningful employment. This position provides career counseling, coaching, and workforce guidance to customers seeking to improve their skills and obtain employment in their desired fields. The Career Advisor supports participants, including TANF and SNAP customers -through career exploration, training opportunities, and employment readiness services. The role also includes customer interaction, data entry, and documentation , requiring strong typing and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of workforce development and career counseling practices.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and individuals facing employment barriers.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, data entry, Microsoft Word, and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent analytical, case management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and empathetically.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance with good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous workforce development or related experience strongly preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive career assessments to evaluate interests, skills, and employment barriers.
  • Guide customers through career exploration and development strategies.
  • Assist job seekers with resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Provide labor market information including job trends, qualifications, and expected wages.
  • Complete intake processes and eligibility determinations for workforce and grant-funded programs.
  • Refer participants to training programs, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit Individual Training Accounts (ITA), work-based training requests, and supportive services requests.
  • Maintain ongoing case management and follow-up with customers to monitor progress.
  • Enter service codes, case notes, and required data into workforce management systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to identify employment opportunities.
  • Provide referrals to support services that help participants overcome employment barriers.
  • Ensure case files meet all local, state, and federal quality assurance requirements.
