About The Position

The Career Education Manager is a full-time, year round position that serves as the Career Center’s lead for career education in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA). The Career Education Manager designs, coordinates, and delivers career curriculum to: educate all CSU students (with a focus on CLA students) about career paths; engage them in experiential learning opportunities and career planning; prepare them for their job search; and connect them with potential employers. The Career Education Manager establishes and maintains successful relationships with colleagues in order to lead people toward a common vision of supporting student career readiness, connects multiple offices and departments together to accomplish program goals, and operates within a framework of building structures and systems to support all students in reaching career readiness. This position functions as a key member of the university-wide Career Center and CLA Dean’s Office. The role dually reports to the Director of Academic College Partnerships in the Career Center and the Assistant Dean for Student Success in the College of Liberal Arts. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of two years of full-time, relevant experience in career education, career services, career counseling, higher education, liberal arts, or related fields.
  • Personal and professional commitment to equity and inclusion as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources, and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
  • Experience managing large-scale programs (one year of professional experience or two years of graduate assistantship experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience in visioning, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative career programs
  • Understanding of how various diverse identities impact career choices and development
  • Two years of experience providing career-related coaching/advising
  • Experience working in a higher education career services environment
  • Experience working in liberal arts or related fields
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships across a university campus
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with external partners, such as employers or alumni
  • Experience directly supervising professional or student staff (one year of professional experience or two years of graduate assistantship experience
