About The Position

The Macon R-1 School District is accepting applications for a Career Resource Educator beginning the 2026-2027 school year at MACTEC. The successful candidate will support students enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) programs by ensuring they remain on track toward post-secondary success. This position is responsible for tracking and reporting student college and career readiness data, monitoring progress toward Industry Recognized Credentials (IRCs), and supporting positive placement outcomes after graduation. The role also leads the development and implementation of CTE awards and recognition system that promotes student engagement, program completion, and career readiness across all MACTEC programs.

Requirements

  • DESE issued teaching, counseling or Career & Technical Education certificate
  • Experience in secondary education or student services, preferably in a high school or career center setting
  • Knowledge of career development theories, Perkins V requirements, and post-secondary transition processes
  • Familiarity with local labor markets and post-secondary educational resources
  • Strong organizational, data management, communication, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Counseling (preferred)
  • bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field considered
  • Experience developing or managing student recognition systems, progress monitoring tools, or program-level data systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Student Tracking & Data Management Collect, manage, analyze, and report Perkins accountability data, including participant and concentrator status, IRC attainment, CTSO participation, work-based learning participation, and post-program placement outcomes for all Perkins Consortium participants.
  • Monitor student progress from ninth grade enrollment through post-secondary placement plan tracking CTE participants, concentrators, and completers.
  • Share data, reports, and outcomes with consortium stakeholders to support continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Oversee MACTEC scheduling, enrollment processes, and distribution of grade information for consortium high schools.
  • Track student progress toward CTE awards, recognitions, credentials, and certificates from enrollment through completion.
  • Maintain required documentation for CTE awards and credentials while managing student progress tracking systems and providing regular updates to MACTEC staff on completion and credential benchmarks.
  • Occupational & Post-secondary Placement Support students in identifying and pursuing career pathways, including post-secondary apprenticeships, military service, college enrollment, and employment.
  • Assist in identifying students eligible for secondary internships, apprenticeships, or other work-based learning opportunities.
  • Collect, review, and maintain resumes for all graduating MACTEC seniors; provide feedback for improvement and coordinate preparation of resumes for end-of-year recognition.
  • Complete the 180-day graduate follow-up report for all Perkins Consortium schools.
  • Guidance & Student Support Collaborate with consortium school counselors to align Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs) with CTE programs and goals.
  • Conduct regular grade and attendance reviews for CTE students to support early identification of concerns and timely intervention.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, families, and school counselors regarding circumstances impacting attendance, academic performance, or career planning.
  • Support students in understanding progress toward the DESE CTE Certificate and other applicable awards, honors, and certifications.
  • Assist students with post-secondary planning, including scholarship applications and admissions processes.
  • Serve as the lead contact for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, or ELL plans enrolled in CTE programs.
  • Educate students on CTE award requirements, expectations, and timelines, and support students in developing plans to meet recognition criteria.
  • Assist students in understanding how participation in CTSOs, work-based learning, credential attainment, and career planning contribute to CTE awards and post-secondary readiness.
  • Support student goal-setting related to CTE completion, credential attainment, and recognition milestones.
  • Support, Outreach & Program Coordination Build and maintain strong partnerships with consortium schools, families, post-secondary institutions, employers, and community organizations to support student success.
  • Provide supplemental career readiness support (applications, résumés, interview preparation) in coordination with Career Center instructors.
  • Manage and maintain all articulation and dual credit agreements and coordinate dual credit enrollment with partner colleges.
  • Manage scholarships, awards, and student recognition programs.
  • Coordinate the MACTEC Awards program by establishing and reviewing award criteria with instructors, maintaining organized records of student recognitions, and communicating award information to sending schools.
  • Develop recruitment and outreach efforts across elementary, middle, and high school levels, including promotional materials, presentations, school visits, tours, open houses, and orientation events to promote opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of required assessments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Career Center Director.
