About The Position

Careers Service Assistants support students and employers, working in a vibrant office environment alongside staff motivated to provide an excellent student experience. It is a multi-faceted opportunity that will give you first-hand insight into the graduate labour market and opportunities to interact with recruiters. The Careers Service are looking for friendly and motivated students to contribute to improving student employability. You will provide a welcoming frontline service to students and employers, in person and online, and support our work by maintaining accurate information and resources on our online portals. These are Guaranteed Hours (GH) contracts, typically between 6 and 10 hours per week during term time; possibility of increased hours during vacations.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be available for an in-person assessment and interview, that will be held between Monday 20 April and Friday 24 April 2026.
  • Applicants must be available for an in-person induction week commencing Monday 7 September 2026.
  • Applicants must be available to officially start the role from Monday 14 September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Providing as-needed ‘Front of House’ support at our two sites (Nucleus Building, Kings Buildings and the Main Library Building, George Square), for example opening and closing front door, managing attendance at workshops and drop-ins.
  • Responding to frontline enquiries via phone, email and online form, responding to simple queries and effectively triaging and referring on.
  • Supporting the Careers Service student-facing communications. This could include posting on social media channels, writing blogs, filming or being filmed, and contributing ideas.
  • Administrative and information resource-based tasks such as editing captions on videos, recording statistics, recording attendance at online events.
  • Managing approvals of employer requests to advertise opportunities, working to policy and communicating with employers about changes that need to be made.
  • Proofreading vacancies and events listings, and advertising them on MyCareerHub and through other channels.
  • Responding to employer email enquiries in the employer shared inbox.
  • Proactively sourcing vacancies from external sources and curating collections of events and opportunities aligned with Careers Service campaign themes and priorities.
  • Updating and managing organisation and contact data to ensure accuracy and relevance of information held on the MyCareerHub employer database.
