About The Position

As a Caregiver, you will provide direct care and support to residents by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting safety, dignity, and overall well-being. You will follow established community protocols, licensing regulations, and individualized care plans to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.

Requirements

  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or willingness to learn within 90 days of employment for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to provide coverage or work overtime as needed.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting.
  • Ability to transport residents via wheelchair, Geri chair, or shower chair, pushing up to 150 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to transfer, lift, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 125 pounds unassisted, or with assistance for residents over 125 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to 90% of the workday.
  • Ability to reach up to six feet and push a dietary cart weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids, including potential exposure to HIV and/or HBV.
  • May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior geriatric nursing aide experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, transferring, and toileting, in accordance with community protocols and licensing regulations.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and universal precautions, when providing resident care.
  • Transfer, transport, and escort residents as needed.
  • Follow assigned caregiver schedules and individual resident care plans; respond promptly to all call lights.
  • Monitor non-skilled resident activity, nutritional intake, functional status, and psychosocial well-being; take appropriate action and report status changes as observed.
  • Act immediately on resident issues in accordance with established protocols and basic first aid training.
  • Document resident status changes, including physical changes, medication reactions, and psychosocial changes.
  • Assist with enrichment activities and light cleaning of resident apartments as assigned.
  • Promote open communication among healthcare professionals, families, residents, and staff.
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
