About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Cash Accountant is responsible for managing and reconciling an organization's cash transactions, ensuring accurate financial records, and maintaining cash flow reports. This role is crucial for safeguarding cash assets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting broader financial decision-making daily.

Requirements

  • at least two years of experience in accounting or finance, specifically related to cash controls.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with an emphasis in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field from an accredited four-year college.
  • Experience in lieu of a degree is also accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • Patient accounting systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Track all incoming and outgoing cash, including credit card and other reconciliation activities and process day-to-day transactions.
  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of cash transactions, bank statements, and general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with internal cash control systems, financial policies, and accounting principles (GAAP), and provide support for internal and external audits.
  • Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other departments to ensure the integrity of all financial transactions.
  • Assist in optimizing cash management processes and identifying potential areas of risk related to cash flow.
  • Support the cash reconciliation process, including credit card and other reconciliation activities, and participate in cash improvement and implementation initiatives.
  • Assist in the reporting and management of unclaimed funds, contributing to the development of standardized processes for gathering unclaimed property data across payroll, accounts payable, and patient refunds.
  • Provide support to the Fund Accountant for donation tracking, aiding in the consolidation of grant management, assisting with new grant applications.
  • Meet deadlines and complete work thoroughly and accurately.
  • Participate in committees and projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
