In your future role as a Category Manager - Chemicals, you will Develop procurement strategies at a regional and/or global category level for a total annual spend of 50-100 million USD of direct materials. Explore cost reduction opportunities and establish a total cost of ownership approach internally and with external suppliers. Actively work to improve commercial terms with suppliers, identify ways to support and minimize spending and reduce cost to support the company’s financial objectives. Actively engage with key stakeholders from different Business Lines to understand business requirements and incorporate them into the supplier selection and decision-making process. Work closely with stakeholders to align technical and commercial requirements, secure total costs and inculcate long-term partnership with key suppliers. You will have exposure to high level business decision making and the chance to work with various stakeholders. Amongst them: a mature global procurement team, suppliers, site planners & senior management (Directors & Vice Presidents). On top of that, the opportunity to drive and lead global continuous improvement projects. Due to the nature of the job, travel (15 – 20 %), mainly within US. You will be working in an international procurement team and reporting directly to the Procurement Director of Americas region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in a business-related area or industry, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in strategic and operational procurement.
  • Chemical industry experience is a must.
  • Good understanding of complex market dynamics and ability to apply critical thinking to develop effective procurement strategies that balance value with risk mitigation.
  • Advanced negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring smooth collaboration internally and externally.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage people at all levels of the organization in a multicultural setting.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and build organizational alignment.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English.
