About The Position

The Category Manager plays a critical role in driving fact-based selling and category growth with key retail partners. This individual will leverage POS, shopper, and syndicated data to develop actionable insights that influence assortment, pricing, promotion, shelving, and innovation decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate data into compelling customer-facing stories. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CPG experience in category management, sales analytics, and/or shopper insights.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in CPG category management, sales analytics, or shopper insights
  • Strong experience with syndicated data (Circana preferred)
  • Experience using retailer portals (e.g., Walmart Scintilla, Kroger 84.51°) preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling)
  • Power BI experience a plus
  • Experience building PowerPoint presentations for external audiences
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience preparing for line reviews or joint business planning meetings
  • Familiarity with assortment analytics and space optimization concepts
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments and building new processes

Responsibilities

  • Category & Shopper Insights
  • Analyze POS and shopper data (e.g., Circana, retailer portals such as Scintilla or 84.51°)
  • Identify trends in velocity, distribution, price gaps, and promotional performance with a retailer lens
  • Develop insights on shopper behavior, switching, and cross-purchase dynamics
  • Monitor competitive activity and emerging category trends
  • Retailer-Focused Storytelling
  • Build customer-ready presentations grounded in data and insights
  • Support line reviews, assortment decisions, and new item launches
  • Partner with Sales to develop fact-based selling materials
  • Translate analytics into actionable recommendations
  • Revenue Growth Support
  • Support pricing and promotional analyses
  • Evaluate base vs promoted volume
  • Analyze price gaps and competitive positioning
  • Contribute to post-event and assortment performance reviews
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales, RGM, Supply Chain, and Marketing
  • Ensure alignment between category insights and go-to-market strategies
  • Support innovation forecasting and distribution tracking
