About The Position

The Category Sourcing Analyst will work cross-functionally to identify, qualify, and onboard new food products, new suppliers, and new production facilities. In this role, you will partner with the Category Managers to manage projects that result in increased security of supply and drive sales growth to ensure category profitability by identifying supply risk and supplier performance. You will also secure raw materials and packaging from a global supply base, in line with Roland Foods’ product specifications and/or innovation requirements. This role will own a portfolio of product categories and report to a dedicated Category Manager. As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in purchasing, product development, project management, and/or strategic vendor management (security of supply, risk mitigation)
  • 1-3 years of project management experience required
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or a related field
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a plus (Microsoft AX, SAP, Oracle etc.)
  • Consumer packaged goods experience
  • Ability to partner with suppliers and cross-functional colleagues to resolve project issues
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Own bid process for all existing and/or private label items in the Category Sourcing Analyst’s respective categories by coordinating directly with Revenue Management Team, Sales Teams and suppliers to understand the volume, timelines, and price targets
  • Project Management – Work cross-functionally with key internal and external stakeholders to drive projects and strategic initiatives, which may include as co-leading RFPs (Request for Proposals), bid support, and managing end-to-end product development projects
  • Increase Security of Supply – Work with the Supply and Demand Planning, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Sales and Marketing teams to identify, qualify, and onboard new items, new suppliers, and new manufacturing facilities to ensure quality and availability of supply at a competitive cost through costing analytics
  • Increase Sales – Manage end-to-end product development projects that meet customer requirements for opportunity-driven new item development, new packaging sizes or types, and new raw material specifications
  • Reduce Cost of Goods and Optimize Commercial Terms – Negotiate with suppliers on key terms, including product cost, payment terms, production, and packaging MOQs (minimum production and minimum order quantities), production lead time, and shipping
  • Supplier Relations – Support the Category Managers in building a partnership with suppliers by managing performance, communications, and supply
  • Lead product evaluation through sample cuttings to identify, assess, qualify and onboard the best products and suppliers to meet requirements
  • Support the Global Procurement Department in running sales and purchasing reports by conducting market analysis of harvest conditions, global supply and demand trends, price trends, viable supply base, and production specification availability
  • Set up new items in our ERP system
