About The Position

We are a growing, family-owned restaurant just east of Wichita, KS, seeking an experienced Catering Chef to lead our expanding catering and events program while also overseeing daily kitchen operations. This role is critical to delivering exceptional off-site events, maintaining consistency across all food production, and upholding operational discipline in our kitchen. The ideal candidate has a strong background in catering or event-based food service, is confident enforcing policies and holding standards, and thrives in both high-volume event execution and day-to-day restaurant operations. You will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with both the GM and our Front End Lead to ensure outstanding food quality, seamless event execution, and smooth kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in catering, banquet, or event-focused culinary roles
  • Background as a Kitchen Manager, BOH Manager, or similar leadership position
  • Experience in well-run, systemized kitchen environments preferred
  • Strong ability to follow and enforce established policies and procedures
  • Detail-oriented with high expectations for food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Confident leader who addresses performance issues directly and professionally
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and during peak event seasons
  • Able to manage a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining standards

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute catering orders and off-site events of varying sizes
  • Develop catering menus and adapt offerings based on client needs and seasonal availability
  • Coordinate logistics for events, including timelines, staffing, transportation, and equipment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for catering clients alongside the Customer Experience Lead
  • Ensure consistent food quality and presentation standards across all catered events
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations during regular restaurant service
  • Enforce recipes, portioning, and food quality standards consistently
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Train, coach, and supervise all kitchen staff; hold team members accountable to performance expectations
  • Maintain prep schedules, production flow, and ticket-time efficiency
  • Partner with the General Manager on staffing, scheduling, and performance issues
  • Identify operational gaps and help implement structured solutions
