About The Position

Douglass Community Services, Inc. is currently hiring for a variety of positions to work in a rewarding Early Childhood Classroom Environment . Center Aide/Custodian - Bowling Green, MO (Level 15) Hourly Wage: $15.00/hr JOB SUMMARY: Support staff in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for children, families, and staff. Meets all sanitation guidelines, as set by the State of Missouri. Engages in deep cleaning as necessary to maintain the facility. Is available to assist children and staff wherever needed. Supports the daily activities of the classroom by following federal and local guidelines as well as DCS/Head start curriculum. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Furnishes coverage in the classroom, office, kitchen, dining area, and Covers during staff breaks and fills in for absent center staff as required. May work one on one with children with special needs in order to assist them with daily activities. Helps in preparing materials for classroom activities. Ensures cleanliness and schedules the routine maintenance of center vehicles & performs general maintenance in and around the building. Assists in kitchen/dining area if needed, to include: assisting children with setting the table, getting food cart, dishing up food, and after-meal clean-up. Joins children at mealtime, encouraging good eating habits and food experiences. Maintains on-going communications with staff, supervisors, and parents. Embodies the Mission of the program by participating in ongoing professional development: trainings, conferences, courses, workshops, etc. Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to children, families, and staff pursuant to the program’s confidentiality standards. As a mandated reporter, hot-lines suspected cases of child abuse/neglect, following written procedures as a mandated

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, GED, or HiSet.
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures is preferred.
  • The ability to plan and organize work, adhere to Health Department regulations and Head Start performance standards, follow directions, handle basic math, and maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), be flexible, display patience and understanding is essential.
  • Training and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid and a valid driver’s license are additional requirements.
  • CDA-Child Development Associate Credential program must be completed within 2 years of hire.
  • Additionally, the ability to take initiative, make independent judgments, and promote teamwork is required to successfully fulfill this job’s responsibilities.
