Job Responsibilities The Centralized Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and decisioning consumer loan, credit card, and deposit account applications in accordance with established Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements. This role ensures prompt, accurate underwriting decisions while supporting member service, cross‑department communication, and the efficient processing of electronic applications.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a business-related field from an accredited college or university or 2 years relevant work experience may be substituted.
  • Ability to operate a computer, telephone and other office equipment
  • Competitive team player, with a positive attitude willing to learn and adapt to change
  • Ability to communication, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced member service environment

Responsibilities

  • Review and decision consumer loan, credit card, and deposit account applications received from branches and online channels within assigned authority.
  • Gather and analyze financial and credit data to make consistent, sound underwriting decisions and validate data accuracy in the loan origination system.
  • Communicate decisions promptly to branches and members while supporting strong member relationships through friendly, service‑focused interactions.
  • Recommend loan terms, collateral requirements, and payment plans as appropriate, ensuring adherence to policies and compliance standards.
  • Cross‑train and provide backup support to other loan department roles during high‑volume periods or staffing needs.
  • Follow all internal policies, procedures, and security protocols while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and consistent attendance
