About The Position

Directs and coordinates food service activities of the Arthur B. Hodges Center by performing and overseeing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Certified Dietary Manager, as certified by the Dietary Manager’s Association
  • A dietetic technician as registered by the American Dietetic Association
  • Graduate of an Associate or Baccalaureate Degree Program in foods and nutrition or food service management.
  • Minimum of one year experience, preferably in a hospital or nursing home.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory capacity in food service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Manages people effectively by taking responsibility for subordinates' activities; Makes self available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback; Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; Improves processes, products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service, equipment and department sanitation; and employee safety.
  • Ensures that menus and department policies conform to the nutritional standards, government regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Reviews resident diet information and discusses requests, changes, and inconsistencies with residents and staff.
  • Participates in the care planning process for each Resident.
  • Inspect food and food preparation and storage areas. Ensures proper temperatures, storage methods and procedures are utilized.
  • Tastes, smells, and observes food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards. Ensure food is served in an attractive manner.
  • Orders food and food supplies and ensure proper quantities are maintained for use and for emergency use.
  • Comply with therapeutic diet orders as prescribed by the physicians of Residents.
  • Computes operating costs, maintains records, and prepares reports for the use of management or administrative personnel.
  • Hire, train and counsel Dietary personnel at the Hodges Center and ensure adequate personnel are on duty and carrying out the proper dietary service functions.
  • Promote the culture of Hospitality and high-quality customer service for the Residents and staff. Promote a positive dining experience for all Residents.
  • Collaborate and work with the consulting Dietitian in all responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
