About The Position

The Dermatology Clinic at Stony Point cares for dermatology patients across all ages with varying disease processes from acne to transplant patients to skin cancer cases. Our clinic provides skin services such as phototherapy, blue light therapy and Mohs surgery. All of our clinical staff, RNs, LPN and CMAs, completes the Certified Dermatology Tech course and has the opportunity to work in the clinic’s surgical area with our Mohs surgeon. Our surgical nurses are also being trained to do local anesthesia numbing, a training that will continue to expand to other nursing staff! Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm with morning and afternoon clinic hours offering several options for scheduling. Our team members enjoy free onsite parking at our Stony Point campus. The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Requirements

Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program
No work experience if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program
Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
High School Diploma or equivalent
Lifting 20-50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
Previous experience in an academic health care environment
Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
