Job Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) is a safety-sensitive role responsible for delivering high-quality patient care under the direction of a healthcare provider. This position balances clinical excellence with essential administrative support. The MA utilizes a systematic approach to patient assessment and implementation of care while managing front-office duties—including scheduling, patient check-in/out, and multi-line phone management—to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Required).
  • National Certification or Registration: (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA) (Required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required).
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (Required).

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Perform routine care following established protocols, including obtaining and recording vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, height/weight) and documenting patient history and presenting concerns.
  • Procedures: Administer medications and vaccines (oral, injection, topical, etc.) and perform routine diagnostic tests such as EKGs as ordered.
  • Lab Support: Perform venipuncture (blood draws), collect specimens, and prepare them for laboratory analysis.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between providers and patients, relaying test results and care plans via phone or mail.
  • Environment Maintenance: Sanitize and sterilize instruments, maintain medical equipment, and ensure exam rooms are stocked and orderly.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate follow-up appointments and diagnostic testing, ensuring all referrals are completed.
  • Documentation: Accurately record plan-of-care details, test results, and exam findings within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Compliance: Adhere to safety checklists, quality control protocols, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
