About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide at Silver Spring Health & Rehabilitation, plays a critical role in supporting the healthcare team by safely administering medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and regulatory guidelines. This position ensures that patients receive their prescribed medications timely and accurately, contributing directly to their overall health and well-being. The Medication Assistant collaborates closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient responses and report any adverse effects or concerns promptly. This role demands a high level of attention to detail, compassion, and adherence to safety standards to maintain the quality of care within the facility. Ultimately, the Medication Assistant helps enhance patient outcomes by providing reliable medication support in a respectful and professional manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program in Texas.
  • Current certification or licensure as required by the state for Medication Aides in Texas.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and safety protocols.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with elderly or disabled populations.
  • Additional certifications related to healthcare or medication administration.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents following the facility’s policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation.
  • Observe and report any changes in residents’ conditions or adverse reactions to medications to the nursing staff.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of medication carts and supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with residents to explain medication schedules and address any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety procedures during medication administration.
  • Participate in ongoing training and competency evaluations to stay current with medication administration practices.
