About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering medications and providing direct resident care in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and Marion Assisted Living policies and procedures. This position supports the health, safety, and well-being of residents while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Current, active Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification in good standing
  • Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification preferred (if required by state regulations)
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety standards
  • Understanding of resident rights and confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
  • Strong observational and communication skills
  • Reliable and dependable attendance for scheduled PRN shifts
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility and transfers
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Employees must follow all Marion Assisted Living policies, state and federal regulations, and professional standards related to medication administration, resident care, and workplace safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification preferred (if required by state regulations)
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely
  • Document medication administration and resident responses per policy
  • Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nurse or supervisor
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
  • Provide compassionate, respectful care that preserves resident dignity and privacy
  • Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures at all times
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members
  • Ensure medication carts, storage areas, and documentation are maintained according to regulations
  • Support a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents
  • Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs
  • Attend required in-services and training sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
