Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Position Summary The Certified Nurse Midwife provides comprehensive women’s health care across the lifespan, including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and preventive services. This role emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based care, health promotion, and collaboration within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Midwifery
Graduate of an accredited Nurse-Midwifery education program
Current certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
Eligible for unrestricted advanced practice licensure in the practicing state
DEA registration or eligibility, if applicable
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Expertise in normal pregnancy, childbirth, and women’s health care
Excellent communication and patient education abilities
Commitment to patient-centered, culturally competent care
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive midwifery care, including prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum services
Conduct gynecologic examinations, preventive screenings, and family planning services
Manage low-risk pregnancies and births within scope of practice
Perform vaginal deliveries and assist with obstetric procedures as appropriate
Provide newborn assessments and care as permitted by scope and privileges
Educate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and wellness
Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, lactation consultants, and ancillary services
Identify high-risk conditions and initiate appropriate consultation or referral
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record
Support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives
