About The Position

The University of Virginia's Department of Student Health and Wellness is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). CNAs assist with caring for patients. The CNA is part of a team and establishes priorities by collaborating with other team members. The CNA follows protocols for obtaining vital signs and performing simple procedures and receives formal supervision from the Nursing Supervisor and Director of Nursing Services.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: One year of experience as a CNA preferred
  • Certification required. Valid License as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the state of Virginia. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients for appointments (obtaining vital signs and entering into EMR)
  • Maintaining clinic flow
  • Assisting staff with procedures (EKGs, ear irrigations, collecting lab specimens)
  • Ensuring patient safety
  • Maintaining infection control standards
  • Preparing patients for discharge and home care (crutches, patient teaching, follow-up appointments, transportation)
  • Maintaining unit supplies and equipment
  • Other tasks as assigned
