Hours: 1st shift- 7am- 7pm Sunday - Saturday | No Supervisory Responsibilities | No Travel | Pay commensurate with experience JOB SUMMARY: Our Nursing team member’s primary goal is to provide the most remarkable patient experience while providing professional nursing services and patient care in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to onacutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Performs all work with accordance to the mission, visions, and values of Ashe Memorial Hospital (AMH).

Requirements

  • One year experience preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in State of NC

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s needs by making rounds. Identifies patient care needs and appropriately notifies nurse.
  • Plans and organizes nursing care activities according to priorities.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
  • Ensures safe operation of equipment.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies.
  • Answers call lights, bells or intercom system to determine patient needs and in a polite and professional manner.
  • Transports patients, using wheelchairs or stretchers; Assists with ambulation.
  • Documents, monitors and reports symptoms and changes in patient status.
  • Turns and repositions bedfast patients every 2 hours, alone or with assistance to prevent decubiti; gives backrubs to all patients when turning.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  • Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, answers telephone and assists nurse as needed to deliver complete patient care.
  • Accurately assess and documents vital signs, food and fluid intake and output correctly.
  • Assists patients to perform activities of daily living.
  • Uses time productively.
  • Checks dirty work room at end of scheduled shift, cleans and prepares equipment for nursing unit, and returns to proper storage area.
  • Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient.
  • Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful and emergency situations.
  • Interacts professionally and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the nursing department and throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward patient care assignments.
  • Seeks guidance from RN/LPN in uncertain situations.
  • Functions as an effective team member to ensure completion of all patient care assignments.
  • Checks patient identification prior to providing care.
  • Completes annual employment requirements such as annual employee health and AMH Healthy and Safety Inservice commonly referred to as ADI.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements of CNA license renewal and CPR certification.
  • Adheres to the attendance policy.
  • Utilizes Kronos system correctly to accurately record working hours.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and in services.
  • Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations (i.e., flu shot, etc.). All new employees working must be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment (unless the new hire has requested and received an exemption).
