Requirements

  • Must self-identify as a current or former recipient of mental health and/or substance use services, or as a person in recovery.
  • Minimum one year of direct personal experience with the mental health system.
  • Willingness to complete a state-approved Certified Peer Support training program within six months of hire.
  • Must meet standards for CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) or CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist).
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum one (1) year of sustained recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Build therapeutic relationships to support recovery and resilience.
  • Collaborate with individuals to create personalized treatment plans.
  • Maintain communication with referral sources, guardians, and care teams.
  • Assist clients in accessing medical and community-based services.
  • Provide transportation and accompany clients to appointments when appropriate.
  • Facilitate group education sessions and offer crisis intervention.
  • Document services in compliance with state and CARF standards.
  • Support clients in making independent choices and achieving recovery goals.
  • Encourage healthy, productive, and sober lifestyles.
  • Mentor, advocate, and coach individuals through their recovery journey.
  • Uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and required training.
