About The Position

The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health's Ohio Pharmacy Services is recruiting for a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Work hours: Monday thru Friday 7\:00am to 3\:30pm The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a dedicated Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist in filling prescription drug and pharmaceutical supply orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role supports safe, accurate, and efficient medication management in alignment with DBH policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union) , with a pay range of 5 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule . N ormal working hours are Monday through Friday 7\:00 am to 3\:30 pm. This position is located within Ohio Pharmacy Services at 2150 West Broad St ., Columbus, Ohio 43223 . Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Requirements

  • Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician .
  • Note\: If position involves operating motor vehicle to transport medications, a valid driver’s license is required.

  • Required Educational Transcripts Official transcripts are required for all post-secondary education, coursework, or degrees listed on the application.

Responsibilities

  • Processes Prescription Orders - Enters medication orders and refill requests into the pharmacy computer system for pharmacist review; counts, packages, and labels medications; assists with pre-packaging operations and operates automated drug distribution systems.
  • Prepares and Ships Medications - Prepares medications for shipment; assembles boxes; generates shipping reports and delivery labels; coordinates distribution through commercial delivery services.
  • Maintains Pharmacy Records and Reports - Maintains running records of drugs issued and patient medication profiles; updates electronic records; prepares daily operational reports (e.g., number of orders filled); assembles clinic reports.
  • Performs Inventory Control Functions - Assists with supply ordering; receives and verifies medication shipments; maintains inventory records; rotates stock; monitors for expired medications; cleans and stocks shelves and dispensing stations.
  • Supports Pharmacy Operations and Customer Service - Stocks bottles, caps, and vials; cleans counting trays, pill counters, counters, and spatulas; answers telephone inquiries; receives medication orders via phone, mail, and fax; ensures work areas remain clean and organized.
