Summary of Roles Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) are advanced practice nurses responsible for administering anesthesia and monitoring patients during surgeries and other medical procedures. Due to their specialized skill set, they are experts in critical care and airway management. Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) are highly skilled anesthesia care providers who work under the direction of an anesthesiologist to deliver safe and effective anesthesia services. They are trained in all aspects of anesthesia care, including preoperative evaluation, administering anesthesia, monitoring patients intraoperatively, and assisting in post-anesthesia care. Together, CRNAs and CAAs work in a highly efficient care team model, with our anesthesiologists, to provide high quality patient-centered anesthesia care.
