About The Position

The Chair serves as the department’s chief administrative officer and provides leadership and oversight for the department’s academic, research, and administrative operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing strategic leadership for departmental priorities in research, instruction, and service Supporting faculty and staff success through effective supervision, performance management, and professional development Coordinating academic programming, including curriculum planning, course scheduling, catalog content, and teaching assignments Leading faculty and staff recruitment efforts and overseeing search processes in alignment with college and university procedures Managing departmental finances, including budget development, monitoring, and stewardship of expenditures and resources Coordinating evaluation processes and supporting merit and recognition efforts as appropriate Serving as a liaison to CLAS leadership and representing the department with campus and external partners Strengthening engagement with students and stakeholders and supporting continuous improvement through assessment, reporting, and data-informed decision-making

Requirements

  • Active University of Florida faculty appointment at the time of application.
  • Current University of Florida faculty appointment.
