About The Position

The Charge Nurse (LVN/RN) plays a pivotal leadership role within healthcare settings, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while managing nursing staff and coordinating daily operations. This position requires overseeing patient assessments, care planning, and implementation, while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. The Charge Nurse acts as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate effective communication and optimal patient outcomes. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and supporting nursing staff, managing resources efficiently, and responding promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations. Ultimately, the Charge Nurse ensures a safe, compassionate, and organized environment that promotes healing and professional nursing practice.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in acute care or a related healthcare setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a nursing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare technology.
  • Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong background in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate nursing staff activities during assigned shifts to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
  • Conduct patient assessments, develop and update individualized care plans, and monitor patient progress.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to LVNs, RNs, and support staff, providing guidance and education as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to implement and adjust treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Respond promptly to patient emergencies and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff performance evaluations.
